Derek is a Managing Partner and Investment Management Advisor of WealthCare Investment Partners. He has over 20 years of experience as a financial professional and has achieved the certificate of Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®), Pension Plan Consultant (PPC™) and Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA®) designations. His primary focus is on comprehensive financial planning and retirement services for both individuals and corporations. He also specializes in group retirement plans (401K, 403B, & 457 plans), providing plan design and implementation assistance as well as review of retirement plan needs. Derek earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting from Merrimack College.
Derek has been recognized for excellence as an advisor. He has been awarded the Five Star Wealth Manager, as seen in Rhode Island Monthly since 2013*. Derek is a member of The Rhode Island Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, and The National Association of Plan Advisors (NAPA). Derek was inducted into the WACE 2017-2018 Class of CO-OP Hall of Fame and continues to support the colleges cooperative education program**.
His investment registrations and insurance licenses include: Series 7, Series 66 (Uniform Combined State Law Examination); Life, Fixed & Variable Products, Accident and Health Insurance. Derek’s previous professional experience includes various Senior Financial Management level positions at a variety of public high-technology companies (Sycamore Networks, Cisco Systems, GeoTel Communications and Interleaf, Inc). He also worked in the Business Assurance Group at PriceWaterhouseCoopers; a “Big Five” public accounting firm. He advised and assisted clients in all financial aspects of the business including initial public offerings (“IPO’s”), secondary offerings, mergers and acquisitions (“M&A”) transactions and cash management functions.
Derek, his wife Lisa, and their three children reside in Massachusetts. Derek plays an active role within his community. He volunteers his time for the Annual Fund Leadership Committee at Xaverian Brothers High School and is a member of the College Leadership Council at Merrimack College. He previously served as a Trustee and as an Advisory Board Member of the Walpole Technology and Innovation Foundation and the Executive Board of the Parent’s Advisory Council at Xaverian. His biggest passion is raising funds and awareness for Moyamoya disease through an annual fundraising event, which benefits the Boston Children’s Hospital.
In his free time he enjoys traveling as well as playing hockey and golf.
